August 5, Fineko/abc.az. The infographic shows 15 states with the highest per capita energy consumption in 2023. Consumption per capita in each region of the world is also reflected.

ABC.AZ reports that last year Qatar had the highest figure — 817 gigajoules (226,944.4 kWh) per person. Almost all energy consumption in this Arab country is provided by natural gas, which reserves there are very large.

Iceland, with its geothermal energy, took 2nd place. Such northern states tend to spend more energy for heating. 
Many of the countries with the highest energy consumption have fairly low population, Canada and Saudi Arabia are the only ones in Top 10 with the population of more than 10 million.
