Azerbaijan's trade turnover with BRICS countries reaches almost $6 billion

August 26, Fineko/abc.az. In January-July 2024, Azerbaijan's trade turnover with BRICS countries amounted to $5,837,895,000/

ABC.AZ reports, citing the State Customs Committee, that compared to January-July 2023, Azerbaijan's trade turnover with BRICS countries increased by 9.2% or $490.3 million.

In the first 7 months of 2024, exports from Azerbaijan to BRICS countries amounted to $1,283,071 million, while imports from BRICS countries were $4,554,824 million.

For the 7-month period of 2024, trade turnover with BRICS countries accounted for 21.7% of Azerbaijan's total trade turnover.

Brazil, Russia, India, and China formed the BRIC group in 2006.

After South Africa joined four years later, the organization became known as BRICS.

From 2024, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates also became members of the organization. Azerbaijan has submitted an official application for BRICS membership.
