EBRD boosts active portfolio in Azerbaijan

August 28, Fineko/abc.az. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has increased its active portfolio in Azerbaijan by 2%, or €12 million, compared to the previous month, reaching €664 million as of July 31, 2023, as reported by ABC.AZ citing APA.

The active portfolio, including outstanding commitments, remained unchanged at €893 million. However, the number of ongoing projects decreased from 30 to 29.

According to the EBRD, 91% of the portfolio (€816 million) consists of investments in sustainable infrastructure, while 6% (€50 million) is allocated to industry, trade, and agribusiness, and 3% (€27 million) to financial institutions.

To date, the EBRD has invested a total of €3.724 billion in Azerbaijan across 190 projects, with 83.5% (€3.113 billion) already utilized by borrowers.

Notably, 25% of the total investment volume is directed towards the private sector.
