Azerbaijan witnesses decline in bread consumption

August 29, Fineko/abc.az. In 2023, per capita bread consumption in Azerbaijan was 116.6 kg, which is 5.9 kg less than in 2022.

ABC.AZ reports, citing the State Statistics Committee, that last year the country's per capita consumption was 8.2 kg of vegetable oils, 3.9 kg of butter, 25.3 kg of sugar, 1.3 kg of tea, and 5.8 kg of salt.

In 2023, Azerbaijan consumed 1,207,152 tons of bread, 120,828 tons of vegetable oil, 45,691 tons of butter, 1,036,340 tons of sugar, and 15,513 tons of tea.

The level of self-sufficiency during this period was 99.7% for bread, 55.7% for vegetable oils, 67.7% for butter, 84.4% for sugar, 85.5% for tea, and 101% for salt.
