Qatar Energy to build 6 giant gas carriers at China shipyard

September 10, Fineko/abc.az. QatarEnergy and the China State Shipbuilding Corporation of China (CSSC) agreed to build 6 LNG vessels of QC-Max class.

ABC.AZ reorts that the contract will expand the Qatari fleet to 128 vessels, including 24 QC-Max.

Tankers will be built at the facilities of Hudong-Zhonghua enterprise (Shanghai), owned by CSSC. The first gas carriers of 271,000 cu m will be delivered in 2028-2031, they may become the largest in history. The value of the contract was not disclosed. However, according to the Qatari company, it paid $8 billion for the available 24 gas carriers.
