September 12, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan is considering laying regional communications through Iran as an alternative, Azerbaijani MFA spokesman Ayhan Hajizadeh said in an interview with local media.

ABC.AZ informs that according to the spokesman, Baku is currently conducting relevant work in this direction.

"The trilateral statement of the leaders of Azerbaijan, the Russian Federation and Armenia dated November 10, 2020 contains specific commitments to open communications. If Armenia insists on the current position, then Azerbaijan has alternative options," he said.

Hajizadeh added that one of the main issues preventing the signing of the peace agreement is Armenia's continuing territorial claims against Azerbaijan.
