34 countries wish to join the BRICS

September 12, Fineko/abc.az. 34 states have already expressed their desire to join the work of the BRICS community in one form or another.

ABC.AZ reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin made this statement at a meeting at the Konstantinovsky Palace in St. Petersburg with high representatives of the BRICS countries in charge of security issues.

"Today, more than three dozen countries, more precisely 34 states, have expressed their desire to join the activities of our association in one form or another. Therefore, an active discussion was launched with all BRICS participants on the modalities of a new category of partner states to be approved in Kazan," Putin said.

Putin noted that a meeting had already been held with involvement of colleagues from countries that are not yet part of the BRICS, but sincerely strive to work more closely with the association.
