BP sells its wind energy business in U.S.

September 17, Fineko/abc.az. UK company BP Plc has put up for sale a wind energy business in the U.S.- BP Wind Energy, ABC.AZ reports with reference to the company.

Wind Energy owns stakes in 10 wind farms in seven states. All of them are connected to the power grid, their combined capacity is 1.3 GW.

Analysts at RBC Capital Markets estimate the value of this business at about $2 billion, the Financial Times writes.

The company has stated that it wants to focus on the solar energy business of Lightsource BP as the main platform for its development in the field of renewable energy in the U.S.

"This planned sale is part of a strategy to further simplify our portfolio," said William Lin, head of BP's gas & low carbon energy division.
