Azerbaijanis are at top of list of illegal migrants in Russia

September 19, Fineko/abc.az. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia has published statistics on the number of illegal migrants in the country.

ABC.AZ reports that Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Russia Alexander Gorovoy stated that there are 739,000 illegal migrants in the country.

"Currently, there are 6.174 million people with foreign citizenship in our country. Top 10 in terms of the number of foreign citizens living in Russia include Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, China and Turkmenistan. I give their names in descending order, but there are 5.5 million people in total. This number includes foreigners of all categories, regardless of the purpose and duration of residence in our country, including those who are here illegally. If to talk about illegal immigrants, they are mainly citizens of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia and Azerbaijan. In general, their number is about 739,000 people, or about 9%," the deputy minister stressed.
