September 20, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan is considering the introduction of a carbon tax.

ABC.AZ reports, referring to  Ahmad Ahmadov, the head of the Office for Legislation Monitoring & Work with Business Entities of the Main Tax Policy Department of the State Tax Service.

"The assessment of the possibilities of applying a carbon tax or a similar tax, taking into account international experience in order to reduce carbon emissions, focuses on application of other tools relating to the green economy used by countries around the world to protect the environment," Ahmadov said.

He stressed that in the coming period, within the green energy strategy, additional stimulating economic instruments will be used to stimulate the interest of business entities operating in the environmental field, contributing to environmental improvement, as well as foreign investors playing an active role in the production of energy from renewable energy sources, in such projects and stimulating investments, where tax benefits will take a key place.
