September 20, Fineko/abc.az. It is planned to send 1,000 container block trains per year from China along the Middle Corridor.

ABC.AZ reports, quoting Rovshan Rustamov, the chairman at Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, as sayin this  at a consultative meeting of heads of railway administrations on creation of international association "Eurasian Transport Route" in Baku.

He added that 212 block trains were sent from China along the Middle Corridor in 8 months of this year: "This means 420,000 tons of cargo, but the potential of this route is much greater."

This March, the first container train from the port of Xi'an in China arrived in Baku in just 11 days. On average, block trains are delivered from China to Azerbaijan in 8-10 days, and to the ports of Georgia in 12 days. This year, it is planned to send about 300 container block trains from China along the Middle Corridor, which is equivalent to about 30,000 TEU or up to 420,000 tons of cargo.
