September 24, Fineko/abc.az. Japan intends to reach a new level in the world of computing technology by starting construction of the world's first "zeta-class" supercomputer.
ABC.AZ reports that Japan plans to create a new Zetta-class supercomputer called Fugaku Next, which will be 1,000-fold faster than existing supercomputers.
$750 million will be allocated for this project, and it is expected that the supercomputer will be launched by 2030.
Fugaku Next will be the successor to the current fastest Japanese supercomputer, Fuguaku. Its expected performance will be one zettaflops or a sextillion (1021) floating point operations per second.
The project is led by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science & Technology of Japan (MEXT) and will require significant investments over several years.
