15:35 - 30.09.2024

September 30, Fineko/abc.az. In his speech at the opening ceremony of the monument to the prominent representative of the ashug art of Azerbaijan, Ashug Alesker, President Ilham Aliyev spoke about the deportations our people suffered in the 20th century.

ABC.AZ reports that noting that in the 20th century our people were subjected to three waves of deportation, the head of state said:

"The first occurred in 1918, the second in the 1940s and 50s, and the third in the late 1980s and early 1990s. After certain period of time, after two deportations, the Azerbaijani people returned to their ancestral lands, that is, if not all, then most of them returned. This rightfully gives us confidence that Western Azerbaijanis, who have been subjected to the third wave of ethnic cleansing, will return to their ancestral lands."
