President strips ex-head of Nakhchivan Penitentiary Service of his title and medal

October 2, Fineko/abc.az. President Ilham Aliyev stripped ex-head of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Penitentiary Service Tofig Hasanov, who was sentenced to prison for serious crimes, of the rank of Major General of justice and the medal "For the Fatherland".

ABC.AZ reports that the head of state signed a relevant decree in connection with the entry into force of the verdict of the NAR Court of Grave Crimes.

The NAR Court of Grave Crimes previously sentenced the former head of the NAR Penitentiary Service Tofig Hasanov to 10 years in prison. He was found guilty of accepting a large-scale bribe.

Hasanov was arrested in 2023 as a suspect in a criminal case being investigated by the State Security Service.
