About 4 million birth certificates digitized in this country since last century

October 8, Fineko/abc.az. Denmark has announced creation of a digital archive of millions of birth certificates issued to citizens in the last century.

ABC.AZ reports that the National Archives announced plans to digitize the birth certificates of Danes for the period from 1926 to 1973, which were written out by hand at that time. There are about 4 million of them.

This digital archive is to be used, in particular, as a database for retrospective research in the field of healthcare.

The financing for the project – 19 million Danish crowns (2.5 million euros) – were allocated by the Novo Nordisk foundation.
