Statistics Committee: Unemployment rate has declined in Azerbaijan

October 18, Fineko/abc.az. By the end of September 2024, the unemployment rate in Azerbaijan decreased from 5.4% to 5.3%.

The number of unemployed people in early September reached 283,500 people, and at the end of September – 283,200, ABC.AZ reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee.

The unemployment rate has remained stable at 5.4% since April 2024.

According to the SSC, from the half of last year to April of this year, the unemployment rate was 5.5%. The highest unemployment rate in recent years was registered in January 2021 – 7.2%.

As of October 1, 2024, according to preliminary data, the number of economically active population totaled 5.304 million people, including 5.21 million employed people.

As of September 1, 2024, the number of employees reached 1.754 million people, including 878,300 people in the public sector of the economy, and 876,600 people in the non-state sector.

31,700 people worked in the oil & sector of the economy, and 1.723 million people worked in the non-oil/gas sector.
