October 30, Fineko/abc.az. Toyota's global production in September dropped by 8% versus September 2023 to 826,556 vehicles.
ABC.AZ informs that in September, production in the U.S. fell by 14% and in China by 19%.
Production in the U.S. was affected by cessation of production and supply of Grand Highlander and Lexus TX sports cars because of airbag problems.
Toyota announced resumption of production of discontinued models on October 21. The world's largest car manufacturer continued to face intense pressure in China due to transition to electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids sold by Chinese brands.
Toyota reported that global sales decreased 7% to 853,149 vehicles in September, while U.S. sales fell 20%, Chinese sales fell by 9% and domestic sales fell by 6%. Toyota sold 7.4 million vehicles, which is 2% less than for Jan-Sept 2024.
