October 31, Fineko/abc.az. Türkiye, the world's largest manufacturer of UAVs, will focus on development of unmanned and autonomous combat platforms and create a multi-level air defense system Steel Dome to prevent any threats to it.
ABC.AZ reports, quoting Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as saying this in Ankara at the ceremony of handing over the first national multi-purpose helicopter T625 GÖKBEY to the gendarmerie. The broadcast was hosted by TRT Haber TV channel.
"We are the world's largest manufacturer in the UAV market. From 2018 to the present, Turkish companies accounted for 65% of all UAV sales in the world. <...> Along with the production of drones, in the foreseeable future we will focus on the development of various combat platforms - from unmanned and autonomous naval vehicles to underwater platforms and aircraft carriers," Erdogan said.
Erdogan said that today Türkiye has much better understanding of the vital importance of air defense systems for security.
“We need to strengthen multi-level air defense systems to eliminate many asymmetric threats - from preventing terrorist infiltration to attacks by hostile elements. If they have an Iron Dome, we will have a Steel Dome. Now we’ll create the Steel Dome air defense system, and we’ll also increase the long-range missile potential. We’ll work until we achieve deterrence, which instills confidence in our friends and inspires fear in our enemies,” the Turkish leader stressed.
