Azerbaijan stops illegal import of 34 tons of horse meat

August 30, Fineko/abc.az. The State Food Safety Agency (AQTA) has prevented importation of 33,991.15 kg of frozen meat.

AQTA reports that meat was imported on the basis of the order of company Tursan-I by Georgian company G&A Group from Ukraine.

"The import document says that meat is veal and has an international veterinary certificate, although according to lab tests, the meat turned out to be horse meat," AQTA informed.

Veterinary control in this direction will be continued and serious measures concerning individuals and legal entities engaged in illegal activity will be taken.
