November 20, Fineko/abc.az. There is an increase of 1 million manats in connection with municipalities. This is commendable. I think this number can be increased again in the future. But there is one problem. We’ve decided to lower the number of municipalities. Municipal elections will be announced at the end of November. The number of municipalities will decline from 1,606 to 685.

ABC.AZ reports, quoting MP Siyavush Novruzov, the chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Regional Issues, as saying this during the parliament discussion of the budget for 2025.

"Unfortunately, 1,300 municipalities owe 8 million manats to the Pension Fund. Their account is closed. They are transferring this debt to new municipalities. I think it is necessary to look at the accounts of these municipalities," Novruzov said.
