November 28, Fineko/abc.az. There are no plans to lift the ban on commercial sturgeon fishing in the Caspian Sea, ABC.AZ reports, quoting Rosrybolovstvo’s head Ilya Shestakov.

"There are no plans to lift the ban. The condition of sturgeon stocks in the Caspian Sea is quite bad. A five-party commission of the Caspian Littoral States has been established. By the way, once again it will gather in Astrakhan in December. I think that once again we will accept restrictions on commercial fishing of sturgeon. Therefore, there are no plans to open the catch of sturgeon in the Caspian Sea," Shestakov said.

He added that there is an increase in sturgeon stocks in other regions, primarily in the Amur and the Sea of Azov.
