November 29, Fineko/abc.az. "The news on social media that there are $600 million or even a billion fake dollars on the market is completely unfounded and is being spread for the purpose of disinformation. We couldn't even find a thousand fake dollars on the market, let alone $600 million," ABC.AZ reports, quotingMehdi Sheren, the head of the Association of Authorized Institutions & Exchange Offices of Turkey.

"A serious disinformation campaign is being carried out against the economy of our country. And this is done to create an atmosphere of panic," he said.

Sheren added that the devices for counting bills are able to detect fakes. The Association contacted the exchange offices in all provinces of Turkey and asked them to report the discovery of fakes. He stressed  that no response has been received in this regard.

A few days ago, the Turkish media began to actively inform that a large number of counterfeit dollars had been imported into the country. These are mainly banknotes in denominations of $50 and $100 of the previous sample.
