December 2, Fineko/abc.az. 10% of the world's cable and 22% of mobile traffic now account for Meta services. Company's investments in AI should even increase this share, so Meta is preparing new infrastructure to support the relevant business, TechCrunch reports. Speech is about a new cable of enormous length.

ABC.AZ informs that according to TechCrunch sources, the company intends to lay a fiber-optic cable with length of more than 40,000 km, encircling literally the whole world, which will require investments of $10 billion. The project is designed for years of work. However, it is still in the early stages, and the company itself should officially announce a new initiative in early 2025. The task will not be easy, since companies like SubCom, capable of laying the necessary infrastructure, are inundated with contracts for years to come, including from other hyperscalers.
