December 3, Fineko/abc.az. Federal highway R-217 Kavkaz will be expanded to four lanes along its entire length by 2030.
ABC.AZ reports, quoting Alexander Lukashuk, the head of the Department of Federal Highways ‘Caucasus’ of the Federal Highway Agency.
As he noted, this will prevent the number of serious accidents on the highway.
"Our priority today is road R-217 Kavkaz, which is part of international transport corridor North-South, which connects the subjects of the Russian Federation and foreign countries. This road carries the largest traffic - tourist, cargo transportation, so special attention is paid to this direction. By 2030, entire R-217 highway will be made in a four-lane design with the separation of traffic flows," he said at a press conference at the TASS Kavkaz regional information center.
The highway runs from village Pavlovskaya in Krasnodar Region to the border with Azerbaijan.
