The deep-rooted feeling of hatred towards our people in Armenian society, the myths about "Great Armenia", the fact that territorial claims to Azerbaijan still remain in the Armenian Constitution, and the rapid armament of this country prevents the achievement of lasting peace between the two countries.

ABC.AZ reports that President Ilham Aliyev said this in his address to the participants of the II International Conference of the Western Azerbaijan Community on the topic "The right to return: ensuring justice for Azerbaijanis forcibly expelled from Armenia".

The head of state noted that Armenia is deliberately trying to present the activities of the community of Western Azerbaijan as a threat to its territorial integrity:

"However, the goal of the community is for our compatriots expelled from Western Azerbaijan to return to their ancestral homeland with dignity in peaceful and safe conditions. This is purely a human rights issue. The fact that Armenia describes the activities of the community as a threat is an attempt to distort the true nature of the issue and deny the right of return based on international law."
