December 5, Fineko/abc.az. A collective antitrust lawsuit in the amount of £1 bn ($1.27 bn) was filed in the UK against American technology corporation Microsoft, ABC.AZ informs, referring to newspaper The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
According to the WSJ, in a class action filed by law firm Scott+Scott, the company is accused of inflating prices for British corporate clients using Windows Server OS in combination with cloud platforms of competing companies such as Google and Amazon.
The claim was filed on December 3 at the UK Competition Court of Appeal.
At the end of November, Bloomberg, citing sources, reported that the U.S. had launched a large-scale antitrust investigation against Microsoft. According to them, the investigation focuses on the possible use of Microsoft office suite and security software to link users to their cloud applications. Since the corporation is a large government contractor and receives billions of dollars worth of contracts from various departments, including the Pentagon, the commission's concerns also include "Microsoft's failures in the field of cybersecurity".
