December 6, Fineko/abc.az. GL Group, which conducts operations at five oil and gas fields, including Kursangi and Karabakhli in Salyan region, Buzovna Mashtaga, Gala and Zira on the Absheron Peninsula, will drill a horizontal oil well for the first time in the history of Azerbaijan to depth of 4,400 m with planned lateral length of about 400 m to reach deep oil reservoirs located on land, ABC.AZ informs, referring to the company.

"The drilling of this horizontal well will end a 14-year hiatus in drilling operations at the Kursangi and Karabakhly fields in Salyan region and will be carried out as part of a larger-scale drilling initiative involving the drilling of three new complex deep wells in these fields.

This week, GL Group announced a tender procedure for drilling services, inviting both domestic and international drilling companies. As part of the drilling operations, new technologies will be used that support GL Group's goals of achieving innovative and operational excellence in the oil and gas sector of Azerbaijan," the compnay says.
