Activity of Azerbaijani embassies in 2 countries suspended

December 9, Fineko/abc.az. Currently, two Azerbaijani embassies abroad - in Libya and Syria, as well as the Consulate General in Odessa - are not functioning.

ABC.AZ reports that this was announced at a joint meeting of the Milli Majlis committees on legal policy & state building and on international & interparliamentary relations during the discussion of the Bill on the Diplomatic Service by the head of the Legal Support Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Huseyn Huseynov.

He added that  when the Law on Diplomatic Service was adopted in 2001, Azerbaijan had about 40 diplomatic missions:

“Today we have 88 diplomatic missions. Today we have 71 embassies, 5 permanent representatives, 1 representative office in Palestine and 15 consulates."
