December 10, Fineko/abc.az. The creation of a new national park under consideration will cover part of the territories of the liberated districts of Azerbaijan.
ABC.AZ reports that Firudin Aliyev, the head of the MENR Biodiversity Protection Service, said this at a meeting of the Working Group on Environmental Issues.
He noted that creation of a new national park with total area of 92,656.2 hectares is being considered. The park will cover part of the administrative territories of Shusha (6,043.7 hectares), Khojali (24,824.4 hectares), Aghdere (46,606.7 hectares) and Kalbajar (15,181.4 hectares) districts.
"In this regard, together with the relevant government agencies, work has begun on the inspection and assessment of territories. A preliminary map of the future national park has been prepared, taking into account the location of settlements in them, which is sent for consideration to the State Committee for Urban Planning & Architecture," Aliyev added.
