December 10, Fineko/abc.az. The total net profit of the global aviation industry in 2025 will amount to $36.6 bn (16% more than the expected profit by the end of 2024), ABC.AZ reports, referring to the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
The net profit margin, according to IATA estimates, will be 3.6% in the new year against the 3.3% expected in 2024. The average profit per passenger is projected at $7, which is below the maximum of $7.9 in 2023, but above the figure of $6.4 in 2024.
The return on invested capital (ROIC) for the global industry could be 6.8%. Despite the fact that in 2024 the indicator is expected to reach a more modest level of 6.6%, the profitability of the industry remains below the weighted average cost of capital. Airlines in Europe, the Middle East and Latin America have the highest ROIC, IATA notes.
The total revenue of the industry is projected at $1.007 trillion, which is 4.4% more than in 2024, and may be the first time when the figure exceeds the $1 trillion mark. Expenses are expected to grow by 4%, to $940 bn.
The number of passengers transported, according to the IATA forecast, will reach a record 5.2 billion, which is 6.7% more than in 2024. The volume of freight traffic may amount to 72.5 million tons, which implies an increase of 5.8% year-on-year.
IATA unites about 340 airlines, which carry out more than 80% of all global air traffic.
