Share of renewable energy in Azerbaijan's energy sector to reach 40% by 2035

December 12, Fineko/abc.az. Azerbaijan is actively diversifying the energy sector, focusing on development of renewable energy sources, so that the share of renewable energy in the energy system will reach 40% by 2035.

ABC.AZ reports that Deputy Minister of Energy Orkhan Zeynalov said: "Initially, we planned to increase the share of renewable energy in the country's energy system to 30% by 2030. However, at the current rate, this figure will be 35% by 2030 and will reach 40% by 2035."

It is planned that investments in the amount of approx. $2.5 bn will be invested in renewable energy projects.

"Our strategy stipulates generation of 7 GW of green energy by 2030 and export of 5 GW through three international energy corridors: the Caspian Sea–the Black Sea–Europe, Azerbaijan–Central Asia–Europe, Azerbaijan–Turkey–Europe," the deputy minister added.
