December 13, Fineko/abc.az. Over Jan-Oct 2024, Azerbaijan imported 354.12 million cu m of swap natural gas from Turkmenistan (73% less than the previous figure).

ABC.AZ reports that the cost of imported natural gas is $53.12 million.

In October alone, the country imported 13.03 million cu m of natural gas. In the first 10 months of last year, Azerbaijan imported 1.327 bcm of natural gas from the Central Asian country, the cost of which reached $189.63 million. Azerbaijan imports natural gas not directly from Turkmenistan, but through Iran, and this is considered a swap gas. In 2021, such trade began to take place after the Ashgabat Agreement between the leaders of Azerbaijan, Iran and Turkmenistan.

Natural gas trade between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan peaked last year, when the volume totaled 1.517 bcm for $218.2 million.
