January 22, Fineko/abc.az. Google has decided to increase more than by $1 billion its investments in American company Anthropic, which develops artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and competes in this field with OpenAI, the creator of the chat bot ChatGPT, ABC.AZ reports, referring to the Financial Times.
Google has already invested about $2 bn in Anthropic and is now increasing its stake in the company. Anthropic is also "one step away from receiving" another $2 bn from Silicon Valley venture investors, which should triple the estimated value of the company to $60 bn, paper’s interlocutors noted.
According to paper’s source, the revenue of Anthropic in December 2024 reached $1 bn, which is about 10-fold more than a year earlier.
The paper explains that Google specialists have developed technologies based on which the models of OpenAI and Anthropic companies are built, but then the corporation "lagged behind in the race" to extract profits from them.
Anthropic was founded in 2021 by former OpenAI employees and has quickly become one of the leading players in the field of AI systems development. The company first introduced Claude's flagship product in 2022, which has attracted significant investments, particularly from tech giants such as Google and Amazon.
