January 23, Fineko/abc.az. The Central Bank of Turkey cut its key interest rate by 2.5 percentage points on Thursday, as most analysts expected.

ABC.AZ informs with referece to the CBA that the rate of seven-day REPO transactions has been reduced to 45% per annum from 47.5%.

At the end of December, the Central Bank lowered it for the first time since February 2023. Prior to that, he had kept the rate at 50% for eight consecutive meetings.

The rate cut is linked, among other things, with the easing of inflationary pressures in the country. The growth rate of consumer prices in Turkey slowed to 44.4% in annual terms in December from November's 47.1%. This is the minimum level for a year and a half. At that, the weakening of inflation was noted for the seventh month in a row.
