200 companies in UK switch to a 4-day work week

12:40 - 28.01.2025

January 28, Fineko/abc.az. 200 British companies have implemented a permanent four-day work week for all employees without loss of wages, ABC.AZ reports, referring to The Guardian.

These organizations, which include charities, marketing and technology firms, employ more than 5,000 people.

Proponents of shortening the working week argue that the five-day work schedule is outdated and does not correspond to modern realities. Joe Royle, head of the 4 Day Week Foundation, noted that "the five-day workweek was invented 100 years ago and no longer meets current needs. We should have switched to a new format a long time ago".

In his opinion, a four-day week allows people to get 50% more free time, which contributes to a happier and more fulfilling life.
