February 5, Fineko/abc.az. Over the past half century, the UAE has made great strides in the education sector. In the 1970s, less than half of the population was able to read and write, but today the proportion of the literate population exceeds 95%, and education costs account for more than 15% of the country's budget.
ABC.AZ reports that public schools follow national standards and teach in Arabic, while the broader private sector teaches in other languages using educational standards from America, India, or other countries. International students coming to the UAE usually study at private schools and universities.
One of the most attractive emirates in the UAE for international students is Dubai. It has more than 200 private schools and several dozen private universities, as well as 50 English language schools – a significant figure for a region with the population of 3.6 million people.
More and more foreign educational organizations are setting up their representative offices in Dubai. All four higher education institutions opened this year are foreign. Among them are two business schools, Indian international universitySymbiosis and Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.
