Moody's forecasts Azerbaijan's GDP growth this year at level of 2024

February 6, Fineko/abc.az. Moody's forecasts Azerbaijan's GDP growth at about 4% in 2025.

"The growth rate of the Azerbaijani economy is higher than expected. In 2024, GDP grew by 4.1%, compared with 1.1% in 2023. In 2025, growth is expected to reach about 4%," ABC.AZ reports, referring to agency's website.

Moody's also notes the favorable budget situation in Azerbaijan. In particular, the consolidated budget surplus in 2024 was 4% of GDP (8.2% in 2023), while State Budget deficit was at moderate level and made up 1%.

"State Budget deficit is significantly lower than the average of countries with a similar credit rating and other oil-producing countries such as Kazakhstan, which is an important factor in Azerbaijan's creditworthiness," the agency adds.

The Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan forecasts GDP growth of 3.5% in 2025.
