February 18, Fineko/abc.az. Saudi company ACWA Power plans to desalinate 300,000 cu m of seawater in Azerbaijan every day, ABC.AZ reports, quoting Selim Guven, ACWA Power director for Azerbaijan and Turkey.

He added that 70% of Azerbaijan's water resources are formed outside the country, so desalination of seawater is of particular importance.

Guven stressed that this project will ensure Azerbaijan's water security and will help meet Baku's water needs.

"We plan to complete the construction work on the seawater desalination project within 2.5 years," Guven emphasized.
