February 19, Fineko/abc.az. The age limit for holding office of judges of the Constitutional Court is being increased.
ABC.AZ reports that this is reflected in the proposed amendment to the Law on the Constitutional Court, discussed at today's meeting of the Milli Majlis Committee on Legal Policy & State Building.
According to the draft, it is proposed to raise the age limit for judges of the Constitutional Court from 70 to 75 years. In addition, a judge of the Constitutional Court who has reached the age of 75 will continue to serve until a new judge is appointed, but for no more than 6 months.
Under valid law, the age limit for judges of the Constitutional Court is 70 years, and a judge who has reached this age continues to perform his duties until a new judge is appointed.
