February 19, Fineko/abc.az. The Center for Bio-Diversity is calling on the Trump administration to ban the use of "extremely toxic" pesticides in agricultural products grown for human consumption.
ABC.AZ reports that the petition does not include the use of pesticides in animal feed or crops grown as biofuels.
The Center pointed to statements by Secretary of Health and Human Services Kennedy about the use of "atrazine, neonicotinoids, glyphosate and organophosphates" on farms. Kennedy previously claimed that these pesticides contribute to chronic health problems, the Center quotes.
Trump recently signed an executive order establishing the Make America Healthy Again Commission, chaired by Kennedy, to "assess the threat that potential overuse poses... certain chemicals and certain other impacts pose a risk to children", paying particular attention to "the impact on the environment, as well as the quality and safety of food and medicines".
