February 19, Fineko/abc.az. Turkey's largest oil refinery, Tupras, has stopped importing oil from Russia due to new sanctions against Russia's fleet and energy sector imposed on January 10 by the U.S. Treasury.

ABC.AZ informs that meanwhile, the situation with Tupras' purchases of petroleum products from the Russian Federation is unclear.

Since 2022, Turkish Tupras has been one of the main buyers of oil from the Russian Federation. Last year, the company bought 225,000 b/d, according to Kepler statistics.

At that, the company lost a huge portion of its profit in 2024 compared with the previous year: the figure fell 4-fold, to $505 million.
