March 4, Fineko/abc.az. Russian company AlfaStrakhovanie will pay 2 million rubles, or about 38,000 manats, for each passenger of the AZAL plane that crashed near Aktau, ABC.AZ reports, quoting Ilya Kabachnik, company’s deputy general director for aviation and space insurance.
He noted that in the case of AZAL flight Baku-Grozny, passenger transportation is regulated by the International Montreal Convention of 1999, to which both Azerbaijan and Russia are parties: "Since the agreement concluded between Alfa Insurance and AZAL covers the risks of flights to Russia, payments are also provided in accordance with the Russian OSGOP Law N67-FZ. The limits of payments for damage to life and health under this law are set at 2 million rubles, and payments themselves can be made quickly based on the submitted package of documents," Kabachnik added.
