March 12, Fineko/abc.az. The consumer price index in February 2025 increased by 5.5% versus February 2024. The inflation rate in the previous month was 5.4%, ABC.AZ reports, referring to the State Statistics Committee.
Prices for foods, beverages and tobacco products grew by 5.7%, non-food products by 2.7%, and paid services rendered to the population by 7.4%. The CPI in February 2025 rose by 0.7% compared with the previous month, and for Jan-Feb 2025 - by 5.4% agaijnst the 2024 same term. The CPI for food, beverages and tobacco products in February 2025 increased by 1.4% versus the previous month, and for Jan-Feb 2025 by 5.3% against thre 2024 same term.
This February, the largest increase compared with the previous month was observed on prices for individual food products, including bread, pasta, oat flakes, sausages, powdered milk mixtures for baby food, table margarine, butter, sunflower and corn oils, lemons, oranges, tangerines, apples, pears, quince, walnuts, hazelnuts, cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes, pumpkin, garlic, onions, potatoes, black and green tea, chocolate products, fruit juices.
The decline on prices was mainly recorded for beef, unpasteurized skimmed milk, eggs, greens, broccoli, sweet peppers. There were no significant changes in prices for other food products. The CPI for non-food products in February 2025 was 100.2% compared with the previous month, and for Jan-Feb 2025 it was 102.7% against the 2024 same term. In February, compared with the previous month, an increase in prices for non-food products was observed in the prices of bricks, cement, upholstered furniture, jewelry, and a decrease in winter clothing, edged boards, parquet, and writing paper. There were no significant changes in prices for other non-food products.
The CPI for paid services to the population in February 2025 was 100.2% versus the previous month, and for Jan-Feb 2025 it was 107.9% against Jan-Feb 2024. In February, compared with the previous month, the increase in prices for paid services to the population was observed mainly on dry cleaning, photo studio and medical services, while the decrease was for recreational tours and international passenger transportation services by air. There have been no significant changes in prices for other paid services.
