March 12, Fineko/abc.az. In 2024, 5,166.3 tons of honey, 132.1 tons of beeswax, 8.5 tons of propolis, 16.8 tons of parchment and 239.3 kg of royal jelly were obtained from 579,000 bee colonies in 30,601 farms in Azerbaijan, ABC.AZ reports, referring to the State Statistics Committee.

In comparison with 2023, the number of bee colonies in 2024 declined by 3.1%, honey production increased by 13.5%, and perga production by 88.8%.

The production of beeswax lowered by 23.5%, propolis by 43%, royal jelly by 14.9%, and the average number of bee colonies per farm engaged in beekeeping fell by 2.4%.

The decline in the number of bee colonies and production of some types of bee products occurred mainly due to bee diseases.
