March 14, Fineko/abc.az. Construction of a main irrigation canal will begin from Giz-Galasi reservoir, ABC.AZ informs, referring to Cabinet's report for 2024.

It was noted that within the project, in order to equip 8,400 hectares of land in Jabrayil and Fuzuli districts with an irrigation system and improve the irrigation system of 252,000 hectares of agricultural land in Milmugan economic region, it is planned to build a 52 km long main canal with capacity of 50 cu m per second in the territory of Giz-Galasi reservoir on the Araz River, as well as construction of a pipeline system with a length of 213 km.

The total cost of the project is estimated at $115.18 million. Of the total amount, $18.45 million is the share of the Azerbaijani government, $96.48 million - loans, and $250,000 - grants.

The Islamic Development Bank will participate in financing the project.
