Over 360,000 new hotel rooms to be built in Saudi Arabia in coming years

March 18, Fineko/abc.az. Saudi Arabia will put into operation 362,000 new hotel rooms by 2030 as part of the "$110 billion transformation of the hospitality sector".

ABC.AZ reports that this was announced in the kingdom on the eve of the Future Hospitality Summit (FHS), which will be held in Riyadh in May.

Major international events such as the 2029 Asian Winter Games, the World Expo 2030, and the 2034 FIFA World Cup are expected to further boost tourism in the country and related industries. These events will not only increase the number of visitors, but also strengthen Saudi Arabia's status in the world as a leading destination for leisure, business and major events, according to local authorities.

In the period from January to October 2024, the revenue of hotels in Saudi Arabia reached an impressive $5.6 billion, which is 3.5% more than in 2023 and 26.5% more than in 2019. In Riyadh, ADR increased by 16% compared to 2023, and in Madinah - by 5%.
