March 19, Fineko/abc.az. Germany's Siemens AG plans to reduce its global staff by nearly 6,000 people, mainly affecting the division dealing with production automation solutions.
ABC.AZ informs, with reference to the company, that by the end of the 2027 fiscal year, the division will lay off about 5,600 employees, including 2,600 in Germany.
This business, which employs about 68,000 people, has faced negative consequences of declining demand in China.
In addition, the division in the field of charging stations for electric vehicles plans to cut close to 450 jobs (250 in Germany), or a third of the staff, this year.
Siemens plans to separate this business into a separate structure.
Despite the announced plans, company's management emphasized that its staff in Germany will remain approximately at the current level for the foreseeable future due to the hiring of new employees in other divisions.
Since the beginning of 2025, the capitalization of Siemens has jumped by a quarter, to 183.5 billion euros.
