April 17, Fineko/abc.az. American technology company Nvidia expects that due to restrictions imposed by the U.S. authorities on the export of chips to China, it will lose approx. $5.5 billion.
ABC.AZ reports that the U.S. leadership informed the company that now, without a special license, it will not be able to supply H20 chips for artificial intelligence technologies to China.
The American authorities explained the new requirement by saying that "these products can be used in a supercomputer», although Nvidia created the mentioned model of chips for export and initially made it less productive in order to meet all the requirements for the sale of American chips abroad.
Nvidia estimates that Washington's decision will cost it $5.5 billion in the first fiscal quarter due to "inventory and procurement obligations" related to H20 chips.
The company is convinced that stricter export controls will only strengthen China's desire for independence from U.S. technology and weaken American companies.
