April 21, Fineko/abc.az. The most important strategic resource for which there will be a serious struggle in the future will be water, ABC.AZ reports, quoting Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan as saying this at the ceremony of the start of construction of the Silvan irrigation tunnel in Turkey.
Erdogan said that Turkey has suffered from instability and conflicts for many years. He added that the country does not want new crises in the region.
The Turkish leader noted that thanks to military operations in northern Syria and Iraq, the state has come closer to eliminating terrorism at its very source. Now a new stage begins.
However, he drew attention to the fact that in the future the struggle will not be for oil, but for the most strategic resource of the 21st century - water.
"Turkey is not a country with abundance of water. We live in conditions of water scarcity. If we don't take action, we will face much more serious problems," Erdogan emphasized.
