Iran has become the seventh largest steel producer in the world

April 24, Fineko/abc.az. Iran ramped up its steel output in March to become the world’s seventh largest producer, according to figures released by the World Steel Association.

Iranian steel mills had churned out some 3.3 million metric tons (mt) of the metal in March, up 3.7% from the same month last year.

Iran’s quarterly steel output reached 7.3 million mt in the three months to March, down 12.8% compared to the same period in 2023, according to the figures.

Global steel production in March amounted to 166.1 million mt, up 2.9% from March 2024, while quarterly output reached 468.6 million mt, down 0.4% year on year, the figures showed.
